Training & Placement cell/Department is the hub of all possible interaction between the corporate, industries, Academic/Research Institutions, apex bodies for funding and consultancy like UGC, CSIR, AICTE, DTS, CII etc. and big brothers of R & D activities like ISRO, BARC, DRDO and others with Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) with the soul aim of providing required in-campus training over and above the curriculum, final semester industrial project and bring industrial establishment to the campus for final recruitment.
Students pursue project training in many premier R & D and Industrial establishment such as ISRO, DRDO, IITs, ISI, TCS, Tata Technologies, HCL, Titan Industries, BARC, WEBEL Mediatronics, Skytech Solutions, CATS, Cognizant Technologies, Steaslit Industries, Reliance Telecom, Telco, NHPC, Manipal Infocom, Reliance Infocom, Bharti Telecom, ECE, Elevators, Carrier Air Conditioners and HCL Infinet, E- Revmax and Lakhotia Enterprises, Greaves, Acer, MEMG, Manipal Infocom, SNIP, VECC, Jadavpur/Calcutta University among others.
We have tailored our curriculum to ensure that our engineering students are “Industry Ready” when they pass out from our college. The companies like Accenture, ANZ Info Tech, Cognizant Technologies, Godrej Infotech, HCLCOMNET, Infosys Technologies, Microland, NIIT, Skytech solutions, Stesalit Industries, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Elexsi, Tech Mahindra, and Usha Communications etc. visited SMIT for campus interviews. There is a quantum jump from the 188 on-campus recruitment for 2007 to 277 for 2008 with more companies coming for on-campus recruitment in coming months. The details are shown below.
